Community Partners August 2015

Community Partners August 2015

In honor of our 10 year Celebration this month, we have selected a group of local non-profits we have collaborated with through the years.

The Cottonwood Institute ( www.cottonwoodinstitute.org ) Environmental education, service learning, and leadership programs for schools and youth organizations, based in Denver, CO. Change Your World!

It was a great honor when Ford Church selected Fluid Coffee Bar to host The Cottonwood Institutes 1st Annual Base Camp Bash in 2005.  Following the Base Camp Bash, Fluid and the Cottonwood Institute went on to host a series of “Change the World” Movie nights, including great community discussions on social and environmental issues.  Cottonwood Institute played a big role in Inspiring Fluid to create the first Sustainability Menu in 2008.

Rocky Mountain Micro Finance ( www.rmmfi.org ) The Rocky Mountain MicroFinance Institute (RMMFI) is a non-profit organization that provides learning, lending, and coaching to grow Community Entrepreneurs who build businesses to advance along the pathway to self-sufficiency and self-worth.

Wow, what an amazing and smart organization.  Fluid and RMMFI have collaborated on a variety of projects through the years.  One of our favorites was hosting the small business owner panel discussions in Fluid Meeting Spaces (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSIKEdcDmNs).

The Pier Institute ( www.pierinstitute.org ) Partners businesses with disadvantaged communities in the least economically developed countries to alleviate poverty at the grassroots level.

The Pier Institute has always been a great friend of Fluid Coffee Bar and the Sustainability Menu.  We have been fortunate to work with Rich Mitchell and the Pier Institute on several community projects in  Colombia including the Pier Development Project ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AzjRU5zOxo )and the Verifica Program.

Colorado Youth at Risk ( www.coyar.org ) Colorado Youth at Risk empowers teenage students to make life choices that positively impact their future through community-based mentoring and intensive training.

We have had the opportunity to work with Drew DeMarie and his team at CYAR on several occasions including hosting the CYAR Youth Leadership Program the opening year of Fluid Meeting Spaces.  Fluid and CYAR have also teamed up on Colorado Gives Day to introduce CYAR and their incredible youth mentoring program to the Fluid Community.

The Gathering Place ( www.tgpdenver.org )The Gathering Place is Denver's only daytime drop-in center for women, their children, and transgender individuals experiencing poverty or homelessness.

The Card Project cards have become a fixture at Fluid Coffee Bar.  By purchasing a piece of handcrafted art, you are making a difference in the life of an individual who is experiencing homelessness or poverty. We pass on 100% of sales to The Gathering Place, this has been a great way for The Gathering Place and Fluid to collaborate on an ongoing basis.
